Eli’s Fun Fabulous Fantastic Florida Excursion and Snorkeling Day #6

And…the snorkeling excursion in the Keys was cancelled. The weather actually ended up being very nice, but I guess the wind was incompatible with the boat ride. However, they said we could still rent the gear and snorkel in the lagoon. So that’s what we did.

Eli was in a bad mood, so I don’t have a lot of pictures of him.

After learning about the cancellation, we proceeded with our initial plans for the day, which involved picking up treats for my friend’s son, who is serving a mission in the Key Largo area for our church. We decided to surprise him and his missionary companion with the treats before going on to John Pennekamp state park for snorkeling.

We bought Eli a shovel so he could dig holes. When he wasn’t in the water, he was digging in the sand.
It poured more rain later in the afternoon while we were snorkeling. This is the aftermath.

I don’t have pictures of it, because we forgot to bring the GoPro with us (and now it’s lost), but among fish and other sea life, we also saw a shipwreck while snorkeling. It was actually just a mock shipwreck, but it was fun to see. We also saw a giant fish about 3 feet long. It was creepy.
