Sir Eli

The other day, Valerie found me crying at my computer. I had discovered that I hadn’t seen several messages over the years submitted through my contact me form on this blog. WordPress sends me an email with the information entered in the form, but the email address from which they are sent and the subject are unremarkable, so it seems they get lost amongst the other emails I receive.

While reading through these various messages, I came across one from a woman who had seen a Facebook post on the Masters of Dueling page, which was posted the day after Eli died. It was a tribute to Eli, whom they had met at the Renaissance Faire that August and seen again at FanX in September of 2021.

The tribute was so well written, and I urge you to read it. The part that stood out to me the most and represents my thoughts exactly and eloquently is near the end of the post:

As you embark on the upcoming September, please remember the many children who have fought or are fighting the foe, childhood cancer, during Childhood Cancer Awareness month.

That is really powerful, Elaine!!!! What a beautiful way to look at the sad, sad tragedy of a life cut way too short in our way of looking at things!
