Being Wrong

I was very anxious about Eli’s PET/CT and was sure the disease had spread beyond the spot by his eye. He had the PET/CT on Tuesday, but results weren’t scheduled to be read until Wednesday. I was in a dark place waiting for the results and I was impatient, refreshing the health app to see if they had been posted yet. Not knowing is the worst for me.

We were waiting to see the radiation oncologist when the results showed up. I skipped to the bottom for the summary, then worked my way up and down the report. It was pretty much all good news, which was a surprise and a huge relief. He does have a tumor behind his eye, but the other tumors had resolved, or nearly resolved. Yay! It’s amazing how quickly I went from being cranky and surly to happy and joyful. My desire was granted:

I was wrong! The doctor was right and God was still right. πŸ˜…

The foot and leg swelling is indeed radiation related damage and the lymph node is just a lymph node pretending to be something it’s not.

The plan is to do another cycle of chemo, then radiate the eye tumor, then maybe another cycle of chemo.

In the meantime, Eli enjoyed showing off his new hat, a Tazmanian Tiger, lovingly created by our friend Marjorie (creator of the shark hat), to our friends at the clinic.
